Fabian

Fabian is a minor character in this play but a very important one. At the end of the play, he is the one who clears up all the confusion about Malvolio. Fabian is a well liked aristocrat of the duke and also one of Sir Toby’s cronies. He follows Sir Toby everywhere and does whatever he is asked to do; such as creating a false image of Sir Andrew to Viola and watching over Viola when Sir Toby had to go and frighten Sir Andrew, “I will do so. Signior Fabian, stay you by this gentleman till my return.” He is a loyal servant s

He is like Fest,e a wise character in this play. This affects our view on Fabian’s integrity because he is a man favoured by the duke but lies and deceives when he is not around. Fabian is a real optimist, rationalizing everything for the better, willing to sacrifice his position to tell the truth. ” and many times gave a well trusted, no rejection answer, “A coward, a most devout coward, religious in it. Even though he is wise, he still does dishonest things such as taking part in the trick played on Malvolio and lying about the character of Sir Andrew. We should all have qualities like Fabian, see everything for the better and take risks to have fun!

Fabian’s character will change depending who he is around just like our characters in life. Fabian is a likeable character in this play with a well-liked personality and a wisdom that Feste has. ince when asked what happened to Malvolio, he gave an honest answer which could have gotten him in a lot of trouble. He was asked question like the following by Sir Toby, “and for his cowardship ask Fabian. He seems to know how the story will end and keeps his cool during many situations. ” Fabian’s word is accepted with many characters in the play like Sir Toby, Sir Andrew (during the reading of his personally composed letter) and Viola (when he said he will try to make peace with Sir Andrew). He is loyal to the duke and Sir Toby.
