Capital Punishment
Capital Punishment is a issue that many people have strong feelings about. Formyself capital punishment is an issue that I feel has two sides to it. Many people think thatcapital punishment is inhumane and barbarous, so is it? Capital Punishment has been around since the 1700's. Capital punishment wasused very often in the Middle Ages. Most forms of capital punishment were abolished inthe 1800's. In 1972 the Supreme Court banned the death penalty because it was cruel andunusual punishment in the violation of the 8th and 14th amendments to the Constitution. In 1976 after a serial killer's case the death penalty was required only for certain crimes. Now these days many countries have abolished capital punishment but the United Stateshas not. In the United States there is thirty-seven states that have some type of capitalpunishment and thirteen states that do not have capital punishment. I am proud to say thatMinnesota does not have capital punishment. Some forms of capital punishment ar
Some other forms of capital punishment that were oncepracticed are firing squad, gas chambers, and hanging. It can never bring back theinnocent lives that have been taken away by their cold blood killers. Some people say thatcapital punishment should not be abolished because it reduces crime well that is not true, itsounds like a reasonable thing to think though doesn't it? Since 1976 when capitalpunishment resumed the crime and violence rates have just been going up. Executing innocentpeople has happen and it is happen more often. California could save asmuch as ninety million dollars per year by abolishing the death penalty. In the year 2001 sixty-six people wereexecuted and nineteen fewer in the year 2000. Some people will argue that the capital punishment is such a harsh anduncivilized way of treating criminals, but look how the acted. e lethalinjection, and electrocution. If anything, the death penalty is not enough. A person, who steal bread froma grocery store, obviously does not deserve the death penalty. The world need to safe so the people may live in a world without the fear of beingkilled or losing someone we love by a cold blooded killer. Capital punishment should be abolished but nor should capital punishment beacceptable. If capital punishmentis abolished then those killers would have to spend life is prison so then they would not killagain. They are the ones that makethis nation uncivilized. Would deathfor these inmates be a privileged? To some it would be so why are we giving them thatsatisfaction? Maybe the inmates should have life in prison with no hope of parole, everand also have the inmate work for money in the prison.
