Colin Powell is a great man. He played an important role in the Persian Gulf War. He even helped (former) President George Bush make decisions. We respect him for his intelligence and skill. The following paragraphs will be dedicated to his life. Colin Powell was born on April 5, 1937. His parents were both Jamaican immigrants. They came to America hoping for better opportunities. After college, he was sent to Georgia for basic training. But, during the next day, he was very sad when a teammate of his died in a gun battle. He did the best he could in the war. So, in conclusion, Colin Powell is a great guy. He became the first black four star-general. Powell soon was transferred to Vietnam to fight in the Vietnam War against North Vietnam. Powell tried to gain support from world leaders to plan revenge against terrorism. He soon realized that the blacks were treated differently from whites. Colin was later sent to Massachusetts where he met a girl, Alma Johnson. In 1987, Ronald Regan asked him to be his national security assistant. When the war was over, everyone came home. During the Persian Gulf War, Bush met with all his advisors including Colin.
