Kindred in 3rd Person

In the novel Kindred by Octavia Butler we see the first hand events of an African American woman from California in the 1970s travel to the antebellum south in the 19th century. This novel then can be called a slave narrative witch is a first hand account of a slaves life. These are done in a first person perspective for the reason that it is the slave who is merely telling their life. Yet what would happen to the power, which is put in this novel if the perspective was change from the one who experienced the events to someone who saw the events unfold? To change from the first person to the third person. This could only have one of two out come one would be that it would only make the novel better by allowing the reader to see all that the author wants them to see the other is that it could make the novel worse by confusing the reader. Both of these outcomes could occur and yet it would also seam that niter could happen and that it would not change the effectiveness of the novel to show the authors point. Yet what is the authors point? It is simple to see that the author is trying to show that people can do things that today are considered morally wrong and evil and yet these people fell that they are doing noting wro

This is easily show with the first person perspective of Dana by her encounter with her ancestors of Tom and Rufus Weylin. The first person provides the reader with the first had emotional view of what the character was going threw and the third person shows how something different it is less emotional, but more factual and it is also far simpler as far as the emotional content is concerned. This is not the only affect that a third person view could provide. The third person can also be used to improve how the reader comprehends the novel for it glides the reader to the conclusion that the another wants them to get to. The truth is that yes it can by allowing the reader to escape the reality and to go to the place and experience all the hatred and turmoil that these people had to live through. The third person perspective could be used like that or rather it could make the whole novel more suspenseful and could and to the effect and just make it a better novel. This is a third person perspective for Dana witnessed all of the things that were done to these slaves and yet it was also a first person perspective for it was Dana who saw these events and it is her memory. This is not the only time when one would use it can be used it novels that are primarily first person as I hinted on earlier. So it is to say that the third person perspective would have changed Kindred from an emotional novel of slave life in the antebellum south to a novel telling the reader the facts of slave life in the antebellum south. Yet could the change to a fictional tail actually help to show the authors tail. However if it were in the third person perspective it would be vary different on the reader the reader would see it more as factual knowledge than a truly emotional experience. The third person is usually only used in nonfiction because the person was not there so they use the third person. This is not what Butler is trying to show with Kindred.
