Give me an American Dream
Ever since the beginning of the United States there have been dreamers. Each person having there own dream, there own idea of what they want to and hope to become of there own life living in this new world. The dreams each person holds is their own that they have made for themselves throughout the time they have had on the earth. Always changing but always staying the same. The dreams they what fir the future the dreams they remember from the past. This is the American Dream, the dream that a single body wants for themselves that is special to them. The American Dream can be shared by more than one individual but living in a location hundreds of miles away and in surrounds totally different than the ones we live in. The American Dream can be described as what you hope to accomplish in ones life time. The only way for your American Dream to come true is to achieve it, not by sitting back and hoping that it will come on its own. Get out there and seize the American Dream. The American Dream can only be achieved through one's self. That through ones determination one can achieve anything. "There is a time in everyman's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance: that imitation is suicide: that he must take
This is the dream many of people have come to be apart of. himself for better for worse as his portion: that through the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till", (Emerson, 364). Everyone's American Dream will be different and if it is not the same as another's dream, oh well that doesn't make the dream any less than it was before. The world was new to me, and I have never seen anything like this at home", (Twain, 675). Giving our majestic cites a proud felling of being a city. "I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear, Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong", (Whitman, 397). "It is a the harder because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it", (Emerson, 365). There maybe more than one dream there may only be one but the dream is a hope for the future. The American Dream is something all Americans have. "I entered upon the small enterprise of "learning" twelve or thirteen hundred miles of the great Mississippi River with the easy confidence of my time of life", (Twain, 670). "Flinging majestic curses amid toil of piling job on job, here is a tall bold slugger set vivid against the little soft cities", (Sandburg, 826). Through the story the kid realized that his dream of becoming a river boat pilot was not what is dream was. Even though they have to work hard for what they believe is their Dream they do it and enjoy doing it, because they want their Dream. The only was it got them was through the dreams of its people and the hopes and wises of the nation. Emerson nails it on the head; one's self is the means of what can come.
