Apollo 13
"That's one small step for man, and one giant leap for man kind." Apollo 11, the mission that landed two Americans on the surface of the moon, is amongst the most successful stories of the US. It was the crew, mission control, the ship, and the pressure of the race that allowed the US to reach its goal of a lunar landing. There were many aspects to look at when studying Apollo 11 such as the race with Russia in which it looked like we were losing, and the fact that some people have theories that the lunar landing did not take place, that it was all filmed in some Hollywood studio by the government. The crew of Apollo 11 was one of the most important aspects of Apollo 11. Neil A. Armstrong was born August 5, 1930, in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He always loved to design model planes as a child. He obtained his pilot license before the Korean War, and he ended up flying 78 combat missions. He now became the commander of the Apollo 11 mission. Neil believed the mission was a challenge to big to pass up. He says that" space is the frontier, and that is where I intend to go." He was in charge of the crew and was responsible for the mission's success or failure. Edwin "Buzz" E. Aldrin was born in Montclair, New Jer
Huston had many talks with the crew during the mission. The only flaw the crew had during the mission that involved the ship was a yellow caution light that went off. President Kennedy then decided to increase the progress made toward the space program. I picked this subject because I enjoy anything that has to do with space, because I have always been fascinated with it. He then became the lunar module pilot for the mission. Neil and buzz set foot back in the ship two ours later. Armstrong says, "Houston, it was a great ride, but I am very glad to be home again. Millions of people gathered around with their families and watched anxiously on their TVs as history was being made. When the crew reaches the moon, the mission is a success. The caution light was a code 1202, which basically meant the commands module computer was doing to many things at a time then it could handle. He then attended Massachusetts institute of Technology where he studies on how two vehicles find each other in space. Some people have made theories that the mission took place in a Hollywood studio and was filmed by the government and then shown on national television to millions of people. (Cortright SP; 350) America had a desperate race to the moon with the Soviet Union.
