In the essay, "Qualities of a prince" (35-40). Machiavelli discusses some of the characteristics that would cause a prince to be praised or blamed for his actions. He explains how a prince needs to have his priorities in order to be knowledgeable when necessary to withstand his position. A prince should know how to adjust to the many different personalities he may encounter. Being good all the time won't overcome the evil of others. Like a man, a prince will never be totally composed of all the good qualities, but he must be able to escape from the evil that would cause him destruction of his position. In conclusion, I truly believe it takes a special kind of person to be a leader whether it be a prince or a president. Secondly, a prince needs to be merciful and not cruel with his people. In Niccolo Machiavelli, "prince" (38). the qualities that would be beneficial to a prince. Society is always going to reject something no matter what it is or how you do it . Sometimes when people see too much of kindness or mercy they tend to not take a person serious and then the problem is not rectified . It is also important for a prince to know when not to misuse his mercy. He has to take interest in what is going on in the people lives. I really think that whether your liked or disliked is not important when doing such a job. If you gain the reputation of being dishonest then it can be hard to maintain success. He was proud to confirm his promises to people and always succeeded at doing it. He has to be able to represent equality amongst the people so that everyone would feel he is being fair. He argues, "Hence it is necessary for a prince who wishes to maintain his position to learn how not be good, and use this knowledge or not to use it according to necessity" (39). The role can be very complicated and it could very well affect the lives of people in many different ways, but you can't possibly satisfy everyone.
