Olivet Paper

Through out my life, I have learned from others and I have grown, certain people have influenced me in the choices I have made; the biggest influence on me is Gods calling for my education at Olivet. While I’m pursuing my further education at Olivet Nazarene University, I am going to major in Child Psychology. I love to work with children and I feel a strong sense that God is calling me to your school. These reason are what makes me positive that Olivet is right for me.

Child Psychology interests me because I love to work with children and help out people with their problems. I love being there for my friends and others when they need me. I could not decide whether or not to do psychology or become an elementary teacher. I prayed hard to the Lord and followed my heart to majoring in child psychology. I believe that working with troubled kids who have been abused, molested, or even dealing with parents separating will help me both spiritually and mentally.

Upon graduation from Olivet, I plan to work at some type of social clinic, with hope

. . .

During my junior year, Holly (Middleton) Gilford asked me to go through volunteer training and work with the junior high. By going to DC2000 I grew more spiritual and was able to know what God was calling me to do. I am ready to hear His call and have Him use me in anyway he feels necessary. It was amazing experience to be in Washington DC for two weeks with 22,000 kids who are all like me; believing in the same thing and standing up for what they believe in. I will take action in “Party with Jesus”, “Access”, the choirs/drama, and anything else the Lord calls me to do.

I have been involved with Youth for Christ for six years now. Going to the organizations with YFC let me grow deeply in love with my Spiritual Father.

While I attend Olivet, I plan to continue ministering to others outside the community and becoming a volunteer with YFC. I know that I am right for Olivet and that my leadership qualities will grow deeper with my future experiences there. I feel that psychology works a little like ministry, because you’re doing the good deed of helping people out and possibly changing their lives forever. I do not want to miss out on what Olivet has to offer me and what God has in store for me.

I feel that Olivet will change me for the better and challenge me more everyday and I hope that I will be able to influence Olivet as well. I have witnessed and brought many peers to know Christ by telling my testimony and watching tears fall from their faces. My sophomore year, after coming back from Go MAD, a group of student leaders and myself met outside the school each morning and prayed for our friends, teachers, peers, and community.
