The House

             Creative Writing Assignment - Extra Credit
             It was a dark and stormy night in a small town in New Mexico. Nobody dared to go outside in weather as bad as this. Except for two small boys who lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere. They decided to venture out to an abandoned farm house that they there were told never to go to. They were brothers who were eight and nine years old and always seemed to find themselves in some sort of trouble because they loved to try to "out dare" each other.
             The farm house that they were planning on going to was an old 1900's style plantation house - you know the kind of home with the big fancy front porch, pillars, shutters, multiple entrances? Only this house was now an off-white color, had busted out and boarded up windows, holes in its roof and a number of other defects. It was known to be haunted in a very evil way. It has seen numerous people and had let few of them return to the outside world.
             The boys had ridden their bikes through the treacherous rain on their way to the house. The older boy heard from an old man that the house was full of gold, but if the house were to be disturbed it would awaken the souls still living there and all hell would break loose. The young boy thought nothing of hell because he had never been taught the ways of God. Their parents were renown explorers that had discovered many new types of animal species and some new land underground. The parents were brought up in the ways of science, they were never taught to believe in God, so they did not teach their kids any of that "nonsense" as well. The boys thought nothing of what the old man had told them except that there was gold in the house. Destined to find out they ventured off onto a path that led to the house through the woods.
