Discovering and choosing a university that fulfills all of my needs was a rigorous yet exciting task. I was lucky to find a college that I feel has everything that I could possibly want. After I applied and was accepted to the University of Delaware early decision I still felt as if something was missing. As a student of Westlake High School I have participated in honors courses since I was a freshmen. A regular level course does not challenge me, nor does it allow me to stretch my mind to its absolute limit. I feel that the honors program at the University of Delaware will expand my intellectual horizons, and enrich my academic experience. Most importantly I would enjoy spending my time with other honors students who understand the significance of studying while still maintaining a good social life on our campus. As a highly motivated student, I like to be around other students who are just as inspired as I am. It was when I entered these classes that I was able to understand, for the first time, why I was recommended to be in the honors program at my high school. When I entered senior year, along with the rest of the class, I was told that I needed to take a course in government and economics to graduate. In smaller class sizes, where there is open discussion, I would be able to share my ideas, and learn more about the opinions of others. I have realized that I belong in an honors setting, where I can best display my abilities as a student. These two courses were not offered in honors. I want to learn just as much from those around me as I can give to them.
As a freshman, sophomore, and junior all of my main subject courses were available in honors. If I were excepted into the honors program I would definitely take advantage of the many benefits that the program has to offer.
At the University of Delaware I hope to be able to share with other students my views on a subject.
