All About Metal

     Metal music came to existence probably in the 70's. Based on the rock music and then hardened with tougher guitars, vocals, the drummers also started to hit their instruments with much more power. The early metal music was based on a more agressive way of playing and was produced only with el. guitars and drums. The harder it sounded, the better it was. But it's different these days, but I'll get to that later.

That would do if you'd write about it in the year 1993. But in difference to doom metal the male voice is mostly clear and understandable and the woman sings in an opera voice (a very common option) or normally. The music performed by them is absolutely brilliant and still hard. Heavy metal slowly began to crawl into the awareness of the fans of hard music. Then only thing the black metal bands of today still use is the so-called "warpaint". guitars and drums (or an artifical drummer in a computer chip these days). These days it's probably the most favourite style. This is my favourite band from this style. At least I got a feeling like they were in some kind of factory. Whereas Therion probably used up all their ideas on the albums "Theli" and "Vovin", Lacrimosa showed on the album "Elodia" exactly how symphonic metal should be played.

_ progresive metal - personally I don't listen to this style too much.

     That should do for a short flight through the history of metal. Into this category belong bands like Theatre Of Tragedy, Tristania, Macbeth and many more.
