Men vs. Women

             There have always been striking differences between men and women. Dave Barry's, Batting Clean-Up and Striking Out, is an effective process analysis which explains some of the differences between men and women. Dave Barry effectively illustrates how women are more sensitive to filth than men, and how men are more sensitive to sports than women are. Barry further explains this statement through various examples and personal experiences.
             Barry states that the "primary difference between men and women is that women can see extremely small quantities of dirt." He expanded by saying that women see "dirt at the level of molecules, whereas men don't generally notice it until it forms clumps large enough to support agriculture." I found this statement very convincing because my mom asked my dad to sweep the kitchen floor one day because it was dirty. After much pouting and protesting, me dad finally swept the floor. Soon after, my mom inspected the floor of the kitchen. Feeling disappointed she picked up the broom, giving my dad evil looks, and proceeded to sweep the floor; the same floor that my dad swept just before. My dad asked her what she thought she was doing and my mom irritably replied, "Since you are too busy I guess I will sweep the floor." My father knew better than to argue and tell my mom that he had already swept the floor, so he just kept his mouth shut while secretly he complained to himself. This incident is similar to the one Dave Barry experienced when his wife asked him to clean their son's bathroom. After he Windexed the whole bathroom his wife still hustled him about cleaning the bathroom. It was also extremely powerful how he brought up a historical example.
