What is America ? Everyone has their own idea about "what America is". Walden by Henry David Thoreau, Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, Warriors Don't Cry by ............. And The Crucible by Arthur Miller display aspects of society that are a part of America and its culture. Individualism, Diversity, Prejudice and Persistence are well represented themes in these books. Individualism is mostly expressed in "Walden". Melba was the a fifteen year old African American girl who stand up against the segregation and tries to make the minority equal to the majority. Diversity , Prejudice, Individualism are all characters of "The Crucible". All the villagers only believed and practice the Christianity religion; and didn't want to practice the witchcraft. He learnt a great deals of life lessons when he was in Vietnam. Borrowing an ax he built himself a wooden hut on the edge of the Walden pond, Massachusetts; he livied there until 1847. Tituba is an good example of an Individualism in this book. White American people was prejudice and they almost had the segregation suspend Melba from the high school. She signed up for an integration program which let her go to a high school only for white people. ut the distraction of civilized society. He survived his life by leaving to Vietnam as an American solider. Facing and dealing with problems made her strong and didn't want to quit. A sturdy individualist and a lover of nature, Henry David Thoreau , went to Harvard at the age of sixteen and he was a expert in Greek, Latin and the English classes.
