Apollo 13 movie, fact or fiction?!

             The year Apollo 13 was released: 1995
             The historical circumstances in the film are not unlike the actual events surrounding the 1970 incident. Nothing contradicts what really happened. Though it was dramatized to a certain point, such as the explosion the movie shows the craft going out of control for a while, with Tom Hanks and the gang fighting to regain control, prompting the famous "Houston, we have a problem" line. In reality, when the small explosion happened, all was calm. In fact, the crew wasn't sure if it was even something to worry about, until they looked outside and saw that they were venting something. That's when the famous line was spoken , but compared to most movies it was very accurate. The filmmakers have kept the characters as close to reality as possible. Jim Lovell is shown as a level headed, problem solver who works well in emergency situations. This is shown when he diffuses the brewing fight between Haise and Swigert, after Haise claims the explosion was Swigert's fault. The fact that Lovell was so level headed is a contributing factor to why Apollo 13 made it home, he didn't give up on his ship and crew, and after making it home was quoted as saying "Look, the situation was forced on me, and I did my job. When people tell me I'm a hero, I don't say anything. A requirement of the program was to act the part. If people saw us as heroes, that was good. We weren't about to say, hey, flying to the moon is easy-just follow the checklist." Haise is shown as strong also, Lovell and him have been training together along with Mattingly for 2 years before the launching of Apollo 13, and finds it hard to accept 'new comer' Swigert, during the traumatic entr
