What Can I say
I know I'm only a nineteen year old, college student, and everyone says that we are the fate of the free world, we are the future, but really where does that leave me? Naturally as a pop culture influenced member of this generation I remain distracted from particular current events. From the morning after 9-11 I was already changing the channels, not allowing myself to be consumed with the horrific events that our nation would be facing for much more than that isolated incident. Fearing war like many others like myself, I pushed the idea away easier than inviting it, hoping maybe it would go away. More and more everyday another of my best friends is being shipped to various countries to defend a country that has never recognized them till that day; and people want to know my opinion on these matters. To put it bluntly, my opini
Yes everyone says that us young people, the future, the determinants of our freedom have the power of opinion. on is solely based on the dislike and distrust toward the Bush administration. Think about it, everyone has had a friend or two that you just couldn't take anywhere because everywhere you went they would start a fight with someone and cause problems, so after a while you learn, don't take that person out anymore, and don't put yourself in a situation where there is always drama and confrontation. We all have heard facts about different scenarios concerning Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, and other news such as the current laws and extremes our government is taking to point the finger on terror, but really, is someone going to do anything? Really, is there anything I could say that would change our current situation? Honestly I do not think so. We are wearing our back up out so badly that they wouldn't even want to hold it down against a small dirt box as Iraq. But we are merely college students that would be speaking out on the topic, some may even be heard by people of higher positions, but would anything really be done? As dysfunctional this Bush administration appears to me, I know that there really is no reasoning with a fighter, so I don't believe that if I have a strong opinion and call to change that much will be done anyway. In my mind, Bush is a warmonger, and as trite at that seems it's a simple fact and the fundamental reason that my friends could possibly not return from those strange places. However uneducated that may sound, it is basically where I am coming from, considering I am only basing my opinion on fragments of knowledge. Soon enough this second generation Bush administration is going to be left at home with no one to go out with when it comes time for the confrontation. After reading many articles I have seen that most people who have any opinion on this topic say basically the same things, for example, Rich, quoted basically everyone but himself. SO I say again, what to say? Do I say anything at all, or is there really anything I could offer that would change this decision to go to war? Probably not. And as much as Bush wants us to be a Superpower no one is going to back up a fighter, and yet no one will reason with one.
