A hacker is one who breaks forcefully into a computer to retrieve data or learn about his victims who have no idea their victims YET. But can a hacker really be changed to use his knowledge for good and to help fix problems with security in today’s computers. Kevin Mitnick is a hacker and this is just a small portion of what his life was and what made him change to help for the good.Kevin Mitnick was born in 1965 and grew up in San Fernando Valley, California not to far from Los Angeles. His father and mother divorced when he was three years old his mother worked long hard hours as a waitress at a small restaurant just to make ends meet. Kevin grew up lonely and isolated he hardly ever seen his father. What friends he did have where phone phreaks they often met at a small pizza parlor named Shakey’s Pizza. The first time Kevin ever go into trouble with the law was in his teen years he broke into his schools computer grade system in which he changed no grades but very well could have. They were married but this relationship did not last long because of Kevin’s addiction to computers and his addictions to hacking they soon after divorced. This is how he discovered how the phone companies protected themselves from hackers and phone phreaks. They then moved there head quarters to Netcom then the solved how Mitnick was connecting to the Internet without being identified by using many of Shimomura's complicated security programs. " After Shimomura made these voices available on the Internet he received one last message saying "Ah Tsutomu, my learned disciple. "Spoofing" involves fooling a computer into thinking that it is communicating with a friendly computer. Months went by and no clues appeared till Bruce Koball, computer programmer, received notice from an online service called WELL. Shimomura was on vacation at the time of this attack but as soon as he found his databases were broken into he rushed home and had his mind set on finding the identity of this unknown hacker. This limits him to many job including McDonalds which system is ran by computers.
