Sir Issac Newton
Through out the Renaissance there were many people who made advances in the areas of technology, life, politics and math. Isaac Newton was a man who made many advances in the field of Math. Not just in the form of 2+2=4 but in Algebra, Calculus, and much more. Although his mathematical advances were made in the beginning of his life there were still many accomplishments to be proud of. Isaac Newton was born in 1642. At age 18 Newton went to Trinity College in Cambridge. He graduated with a bachelor degree in arts, in 1665. Shortly after graduating, he moves to Lincolnshire in August
Ex:Newton came up with the idea that if k was used as a positive integer then the problem could be multiplied out as a polynomial. Sadly Newton stops the study of Math due to a mental breakdown in 1693. (Fauvel,74-75) Isaac Newton made many discoveries as well as additions to the field of math. Newton returns to Cambridge in 1667 to join the Fellow of Trinity. In 1696 Newton moved to London and became Master of the Mint. (Fauvel, 20) A lot of Newton's work in the field of Calculus was on Infinite series. Newton's Rule was much more complicated and was used to find the number of imaginary roots of an equation. These works were also used during the Renaissance in the field of science. the same year to hide from the plague. Descartes' algebra which was called polynomials were expressed as Infinite series were expressed as a series that never ended. (Fauvel,67-68) In the Years up to 1684 Newton gave many lectures on the topic of algebra. Descartes' rule basically was used to find bounds for numbers of positive and negative roots.
