Suspense in Hamlet

In this essay I am going to explore the way that Shakespeare has written the play 'Hamlet' and also the devices he uses to create suspense. I will also try and analyse the dramatic impact the linguistic style and the devices have on an audience watching or reading the play.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare demonstrates the many qualities that Hamlet has. He demonstrates Hamlet as an intellectual character that uses words to fight his enemies. The fact that Hamlet uses a senile act, "To put an antic disposition on", to fool his enemies proves that he is in fact an intellectual character.
