Consequences of Change
While you are living in life you have to eventually make a chance and when you make a change you are more than likely going to be faced with sacrifices as well as consequences. In this essay a couple of texts will be referred to through this essay the first one is 'Star wars'- A New Hope by George Lucas. Also 'The Door' By Miro Slav Holub. These texts will be used to back up the different things that take place when you make changes in your life. In star wars- A New Hope there are always changes taking place. For example when Luke finds out that the empire has ruthlessly killed his Aunt and Uncle and totally demolished there house he has to make the hard decision of leaving his home planet Tatoonie and travel across the galaxy with Han-solo to search for knowledge and fulfil his dreams of becoming a Jedi knight. So he decides to sacrifice leaving his home planet to fulfil his dreams the decision he made also comes with dramatic consequences because when he becomes a Jedi knight he will have to fight for survival when trying to destroy the death star and Darth Vader Before Darth Vader can destroy the Rebel Alliance. The second stanza 'Go and open the door maybe a dogs rummaging maybe you'll see a face or an eye or the picture of a picture' represents that if you make a change to achieve something and the first change you make doesn't get you there don't worry because that first change is probably just one of many changes you will probably have to make to reach your goal in life and even if you reach that goal do not stop because there are many more new and exciting things that are beyond that achievement. The other text 'The Door' by Miro Slav Holub this change represents change through doors to new opportunities or change. The camera shots and angles can represent change as high angled and low angled shots reflect in the changing relationships, self-efficiency and the shifting balance of power. Luke must then deal with this change because of the sacrifice Obi-Wan-Kanobi made, as he was Luke's mentor Luke learns from these deaths that it does not mean it is the end of his life and that more changes and opportunities are going to take place in his life. Because when you are in a scene with the Jedi knights they are dressed in white clothing or very light coloured clothing and when they speak they are nice and speak calmly and then everything changes when it cuts to the death star were most of them are dressed in dark clothing. On the evil side the darker there clothing the more power they have in the Empire. One of the biggest changes in this movie is when Darth Vader changed from being a Jedi Knight on the good side changed straight over to the evil side and is now the most powerful and corrupt person in the Empire of Evil. Change is also imbued in the loss of loved ones for Luke Skywalker he must deal with the loss of his aunt and uncle and then just as he starts to get to know Obi-Wan-Kanobi he sacrifices his own live to save Luke Skywalker from death. The first stanza in this poem 'Go and open the door maybe outside there's a tree, or a wood, a garden or a magic city' represents that you must make changes in life to fulfil your dream no matter what the dream is even if it means that you have to sacrifice something or there will be consequences because if you don't you will not find out what life has to offer if you make changes in life. The extreme and harsh environments reflect the ability of the human spirit to endure and survive the sacrifices and consequences of change. In Star Wars when Luke lived in Tatoonie he was a callow youth longing for adventure now he has made a change in life he has experienced many new things outside his world therefore he has really grown as a person and is now more braver and is a lot more independent than what he once was. In conclusion change is just part of every day life and if you resist it you will never achieve your dreams and you might not ever live a happy and successful live because you will be to focused on not letting change take its place in your life. This is a rather large change because you basically believe that evil shouldn't exist in any world and then you turn straight back around and think that evil should rule the world. The symbolic codes in the movie such as costume's and the voice of characters can be seen as change as well. The third stanza means that if you make a change and everything isn't clear don't worry because what ever it is stopping you from being able to see a clear picture will clear and everything will turn out right.
