Pornography as a Danger

             What is pornography? The American Heritage Dictionary defines pornography as "written, graphic, or other forms of communication intended to excite lascivious feelings." Other people say, "It is the use of sex to intimidate and control women and children and anyone else who is subject to a situation like that." Pornography is one of the many things not the only thing that people are concerned about. They are also concerned about explicit lyrics in music. Lyrics in music have undergone dramatically changes over the past four decades. They have become more explicit and the rock groups are singing about sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. In today's culture, it is getting harder by the day to protect children from constant exposure to pornography.
             First of all, why do so many people show such a great concern about pornography? They care because pornography is a lot more than just arts or freedom of sexual expression. In fact, many of the harmful affects of pornography are been ignored in today's society. In everyday life, millions of teenagers are exposed to pornography on the Internet and on the television. Teens see certain things on the Internet and on the television and they decide to try it. A lot of what they try later leads to sexual addictions.
             Secondly, sexual addiction can be very dangerous. The greatest problem with pornography is the ability it has to control its user. The addiction virtually rules the addict's life. One example comes from a homosexual paedophile, Gary Bishop, who murdered five young boys in Salt Lake City, Utah, in order to hide his sexual abuse of them. He wrote in a letter after his conviction, "Pornography was a determining factor in my downfall... For me, seeing pornography was lighting a fuse on a stick of dynamite..."
