King Midas

The story of King Midas is a tale of Greek mythology. Mythology is a part of man's need to explain to himself the origin and the wonders of the earth around him, like the mountains and the oceans and the seasons to name a few. Men made up stories about these phenomena and invented gods to instruct them. As the ages passed and the tribes shifted they brought there stories with them. But as they shifted and migrated there stories changed too. Eventually men erected shrines and temples to there gods and heroes. They prayed to there gods. Looked to them for help and guidance and made sacrifices to them and they also celebrated them at festivals. During this time most people worshiped gods that were unhumanlike gods. But the Greeks worshiped humanlike gods Midas was the son of Gordius and Cybele. And was said to be the father of a bastered son called lityerses. Midas was the king of Phrygia. And is said to be the founder of Ankara. It was said that King Midas hade a spectacular rose garden. The story of King Midas is one of these so-called myths of ancient Greek mytholog

And King Midas' famous rose garden turned unto gold after he touched it. Dionysus was so grateful on his return that he told King Midas that he would grant any wish he wanted. Not long after that a bunch of reads grew up from that spot. Some only say parts of the myth others say all of it. There are different books that say it one way or the other. It is said that some servants of King Midas found silenus and old satyr. So the king treated silenus with great respect and returned Dionysus. But the barber was sworn to secrecy and threatened with beheading if he told anyone. And it was said that every time the wind blew that it would whisper King Midas' secret, that he had donkey ears. After this King Midas lost his affection for riches and luxury. So he went far outside the city and dug a big hole. The grateful Dionysus granted his wish. The king did as Dionysus said, and he lost the "golden touch". And the Assembly of nymphs and mountain sprites declared Apollo the winner.
