There are many people in my family that is special to me. There is one particular person who has really had an impact on my life. My grandfather, Luther James Marshall, was my inspiration. Although he died in March of 2001, he showed me how important life really was. My grandfather was just like my father. Although I had my real father around me, my grandfather was the one who was always there for me. No matter what happened in my life, he was always the one who looked beyond my faults. I felt like my one and only father had died. I found myself in certain situation I had not been in before. When nobody else supported me, my grandfather was there. Many days if the weather was bad, he had to go out in the rain to attend meetings. Not only was he a faithful church member, he was a dedicated church worker. My grandfather taught me many things during my 17 years of childhood. After the death of my grandfather, I was very hurt and confused. There were many times when my grandfather was not able to attend church, but he still pressed his way on. I remember the time I was in the hospital sick, my grandfather was right there helping me through the situation. When I was down, he was always there to listen to me. When he knew we were down, he would always have something very humorous to say.
