Adam and Eve

God created human life as a spiritually intelligent organism that was not subject to death, but was granted immortality. Adam was created as a mirror image of God. From this it is impossible to taste the sweet without having first tasted the sour (unknown). In my opinion this is one of many lessons learned by reading Genesis "The fall of man" (Yancy 5). I believe from this twisted story of betrayal and deceit that we gain our knowledge of mankind's free will and Gods intensions regarding this human capacity. There is one school of thought which believes that life is mapped out with no regard for individual choice while contrary belief tells us that mankind is capable of free will and therefore has control over his own life and the consequences of his actions. The story of Adam and Eve confirms that God gave mankind the ability to think for himself and the skills needed to take responsibility for those thoughts and actions that they produce. Within the Garden of Eden, God placed two special trees in the middle, each quite different in its purpose. Both played an integral role in the story of mans beginning. First, the tree of life defines immortality (4). Then you have the tree of the knowledge of

In Genesis 3:19"until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return". According to scriptures the lord commanded, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die" (Kugal 74). Since God new both Adam and Eve had (gained knowledge of both good and evil) they would soon learn to appreciate life and all it has to offer, so they were cast from the Garden (20). Does this mean that Eve's actions were bad? The passages in the Bible don't seem to give a full response on this. In exchange for knowledge and as a result of Eves actions, man was required to labor for his food, while woman were to bare the pain of childbirth. God refers to this threat and after the sin was done immortality was no longer an option. I think the way the story is told leads us to believe that nothing was wrong with the deception. People perceive what god did to Adam and Eve as being wrong, but I see it as setting them free. Had Eve ignored the serpent and refused to (eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil) perhaps civilization would still exist as a paradise. good and evil (Armstrong 19), which was the only tree God imposed a contingency on. Banishing them from the Garden is like setting a (child free ) (Cohen 23) into the world as they enter adulthood. This was Gods way of creating a mortal world and for man to be able to use his own free will to experience what will follow. Regardless of what their decision was God created choice and has instilled upon man free will. Genesis makes you bring attention to (important truths)(7) about human predicament that exists today. Instead what should be focused upon is why God chose to place the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" in the garden if he was going to forbid its being eaten.
