Refugees
The Kosovo refugees and the Dust Bowl refugees are very similar in their experiences, and also very different. They both were given a time limit until they would be bodily removed from their homes. They were forced into camps that were dirty and unkempt, they never got enough nourishment, or clean water. The Kosovo refugees were given fifteen minutes to leave their homes, and Dust Bowl refugees were given a certain number of days. The Kosovo refugees were aloud to take as much as they could carry, and Dust Bowl refugees . . .
Dust Bowl refugees were sometimes in a camp for long lengths of time and in places where no one was allowed to have personal space because the camps were already filled to capacity, but with nowhere else to turn the camp officials let them in. often having to pay for their stay in the camp, the owners of the camps let them in. While the Kosovarians were living in Albania away from the war, the KLA is killing Albanians, and they think they are helping the Kosovo refugees but they are making it worse. They were both forced into camps that were dirty and unkempt; there was no money, food, water, or clothes for anyone. There are also lots of differences between the Kosovarians and Dust Bowl refugees, the tenant farmers have to leave because the land that they farm is not fertile, and the land is no longer a health place to live. Kosovarians are forced from their homes because of war and unsettled government control. Kosovarians were always alert watching out to see if they would be pushed on to somewhere else, where they would be unwanted, and spit upon. took as much as they could fit into their trucks, and cars. There were some good camps where they could stay and there would be food, but more often than not they were left in the cold in makeshift shelters, dirty environments, and little protection from each other. There was nowhere to wash their bodies, or bury their dead. People were forced to steal and barter for necessities.
