Chess as a Subject

· In a survey 4 out of 6 teenagers said that Chess is their favourite game. According to this information Chess would be a good subject to be taught in school. Here are some reasons why chess should be taught as a subject: The first and most important reason is that Chess is not a game of chance or luck but is a strategic game, and because of all the possible combenations and choices we enhance our abilities in logic, making the right choices, and generally thinking about things more thoroughly.

The second reason is that if students learn and practice playing Chess they may improve in other subjects like art, music, mathematics, and science because Chess develops our abilities in logic, prediction, and spatial awareness. The third reason is that if Chess should be taught as a subject it will be a very in expensive one because only a couple of different books will be required for the teacher and twice less the number of chessboards than the number of students.

Fourthly the school would be invited to Chess contests that it normally wouldn't be invited to, so it has more chances to win more awards as well as the students themselv

. . .
Finally Chess is like any other subject with tests homework and new information that comes with a higher skill, the only difference is that Chess is presented in a form of a contest so students can look forward to school and class tournaments.

Both of these solutions will cause trouble because in order to extend the school day there might be a trouble with the buses and the students and parents will have to change and alter their current schedule which is not a good idea. Also the teacher only needs to know how to play Chess reasonably well because most of the work and asignements will be supplied by the textbooks, although it could be helpful to bring in Chess experts as guests. Chess would be a very inexpensive subject

3. So that even if you don't become a Chess champion, you get better at other subjects that will probably lead to a good job. Chess helps you predict the futare, examine the past, and deal with the present.

Some people say Chess is not something that will help you later on in life in, some argue that unless Chess is taught by an expert, the whole idea is never going to work and that Chess is not something that will help you improve your social skills because you don't work or think in a group and social skills are very importent. Chess brings more oppertunities to the school to win more rewards by getting invited to

tournaments it normally wouldn't be invited

4.

Chess is also a very common and respectful hobby, even though Chess doesn't teach you directly how to improve your people skills it is an effective tool in making friends. Chess is a competition so it is more fun than other subjects

Another important fact about Chess is that in a way it reflects life with all of it's hard decisions,

losses, and gains. Chess improves your abilities and skills

2. A few people say that you have a very small chance of becoming any kind of champion or good enough to earn money so the whole thing is a waste of time. Chess is also effective in impressing highbrow people if you aren't very good at most of the arts, since Chess will improve the subjects being taught, approximately Chess should be donated by every period and recess without replacing or extending anything and no doubt if given a chance Chess will become a very popular and fun period.
