The Nature’s Dark Side
Gothic writing and the idea of Gothic have been inspired from books such as Frankenstein and Dracula. The idea of Gothic Writing and art first started some time in the middle Ages. From that, creatures like the gargoyles, which are usually found on most cathedrals started to form. In most stories the Gothic image is the setting of the stories and the characters. Also in these stories the setting some how reflects the status of the character with in the story. The three short-stories “The fall of the House of Usher”, “Dr. Heidegger’s Experiment”, and “A Rose for Emily” all relate to each other through their Gothic and mysterious houses that bring the unknown side of the characters in the stories. The story “The Fall of the House of Usher” which is written by Edgar Allan Poe is considered a Gothic story because of the mysterious house and characters. The story is about a man called Usher who lives with his sister in a gloomy, old, dark house. Usher and his sister were not a normal family but instead they have been cursed by a family curse, which makes a person look more and more like a walking dead corpse or a zombie. To try to forget about his fears he invites his only friend to cheer him up and make him forget about wh . . .
Gothic writing is one of many styles of writing and the images they give out usually are about the darkness of mankind and death. The similarities in them are that Dr. The last story “A rose for Emily” which was written by William Faulkner is about a strange woman named Emily which was highly respected because of her aristocratic background. Heidegger’s Experiment” because all the main characters in those stories are either isolated, lonely or both. His house also lurks with death just like Usher’s house. Few people even tried calling her but she would never answer.
