In "I Want a Wife" By Judy Brady, I believe that Brady is trying to make a statement in such a way that leads us to believe that men tend to be chauvinistic and very discriminatory to women. This story in my opinion is very discriminating to both men and woman, not only men and leaves me feeling a bit uneasy.
             Brady writes about how a man wants a woman to make their wife to take on every single responsibility within the household in addition to fulfilling all of the man's needs and wants. For example Brady says, "I want a wife who will work and send me to school", "And while I am going to school I want a wife to take care of my children" (PG. 320). Brady goes on and on about more needs of the husband and children and how the wife's sole concern in life should be to only care for their needs and wants. I feel that this view tends to be negative and discriminating against both men and women.
             This view and opinion of Brady's makes the man look like a very co-dependant and selfish person, which can lead readers to believe that a man does not value a woman as a person but only as a permanent child-bearing housekeeper and caregiver. Brady talks about how a wife's role should change once the husband's schooling is complete, for example, "When I am through with school and have a job, I want a wife to quit working and remain at home so that my wife can more fully and completely take care of a wife's duties" (PG. 322). This shows that a woman's job and independence should have no value at all and can just be terminated at any time. Women are just as equal as men and should be treated the same. A woman/wife should be able to go out and maintain employment if she desires to.
             Most importantly, Brady states, "If by chance, I find another person more suitable as a wife than the wife I already have, I want the liberty to replace my present wife with another one" (PG. 322). This statement is just immo
