Atticus
Advantages Of Having Atticus As Your Father To Kill A Mockingbird is a book written by Harper Lee. It is a book about the main character Scout Finch a little girl growing up in a small town called Maycomb County in the nineteen-thirties. This book shows how her opinions change on many topics as she gets older, and how racism effects even there nice little town. The advantages of having Atticus as a father is that he stands up for what he believes in, he teaches his children good morals, and he believes in what is right.Atticus would make a great father because he stands up for what he believes in. For Tom Robinsons trial they picked him because they knew that he does'nt care about the color of other peoples skin, but he cares about what he believes in, an example from the book is
He is very intelligent and teaches good morals. He teaches Jem and Scout many morals in this book one is "As you grow older, you'll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don't you forget it-whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash. " (Lee 220) Also he said how you never understand a man until you step in his shoes and walk around in them. Scout is much smarter than all the kids in her class so that shows that Atticus is teaching her very well. when he is talking to Scout and say's "'You aren't really a niger-lover, then, are you?"[Scout] ''I certainly am. Lastly he believes in what is right. At the end of the book Scout says after she walks Boo home that being on the Radley's front porch after walking Boo home was like walking in his shoes. Those are the reasons Atticus would make a great father. But one bad thing is he does not like to play football because he is too "old" as he would say. He does what is best for him like when he defended Tom Robinson, lots of the members in the town of Maycomb county disagreed with him when he picked to defend Tom but he stuck with Tom and did what was right. But once agian the reasons that Atticus would make a good father are he stands up for what he believes in, he does what is right even though others don't like his decisions, and he teaches his children a lot of good morals. Also even though his children and his own life was threatened Atticus still deffended Tom Robinson in the trial.
