             What I've Learned From Men by Barbara Ehrenreich
             As a social activist and a feminist, Barbara Ehrenreich has written on the subjects of healthcare, class, families, and sex. Ehrenreich attended Reed College, and later obtained a PhD in biology from The Rockefeller University in New York City. She eventually decided not to become a research scientist because she became involved in politics as an activist for social change. What I've Learned From Men is an article written by Ehrenreich that displays her feminism by persuading women to act tougher, although they have been taught to be to "nice" as a child. In this writing, Ehrenreich shows great values to her female audience, her tone and diction are appropriate for the principle of her writing, and her purpose of persuading the audience is extremely effective.
             Barbara Ehrenreich relates to all women with unequal rights --compared to men-- by reminiscing her experiences that any woman may have encountered in her life. When she states, "Every time his comments took a lecherous turn, I chattered distractingly; every time his hand found its way to my knee, I returned it as if it were something he had misplaced," this shows her attempt to draw the female audience by
             relating an experience, in which she lacked courage to defend herself . She also bonds with the audience when she states the woman gender as "we". This bonding is shown in her expression "hand-to-hand combat in the battle of sexes, we're still too ladylike. Let me try that again-we're just too damn ladylike."
             As Ehrenreich attempts to convince her audience to be more "manly", she uses many formal and informal phrases to catch the audience's attention. When she says, "For contrast, think of the macho stars we love to watch," and " the essence of ladylikeness is persistent servility masked as 'n
