"Democracy is superior to Authoritarianism." Democracy is defined as a Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives, according to the American heritage dictionary. Derived from ancient Greece, "d mos" meaning "the People and "kra`tos" meaning "strength." Although there are many different types of democracy, they all have the three basic main principles, such as: the directing of activities of the state is shared with the people, everyone is considered equal. There are laws that ensure that everyone has rights and freedoms.
             With democracy the people have the right to choose who they want to represent them as a country, if they feel that the representative is abusing or misusing those powers they have the right to take such powers away. If a prime minister suddenly decided to remove money from heath care to buy jets and if the people thought that was wrong that person could be stripped of their powers.
             In democracy everyone is considered equal, everyone is born, lives and dies equal as a person. You have the right as a person not to be predicated against based on race, religion, ethnic background or thoughts. Everyone is entitled to freedom of speech, and freedom to any religion. These are the base ideas of democracy and can never be taken away from you. Be Hindu, catholic or Buddhist you have the same rights and freedoms as everyone else.
             Democracy ensures that there are fundamental laws that protect your rights and freedoms, even if you have nothing at all you still have your rights and freedoms. If you break laws you still have the same rights as everyone else no matter social standings or finances. You still have the right to a fair trial and just trial.
