Neuro Linguistic Programming

             Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) can be defined as follows:
             "NLP is concerned with how top people in different fields obtain outstanding results, and how their successful thinking and behaviour patterns can be copied. It is concerned with what happens when we think, and the effect of our thinking on our behaviour, and the behaviour of others. It shows us how we can think better, and thus achieve more. NLP teaches us how to communicate, inwardly and outwardly, in a way that can make the difference between mediocrity and excellence."
             The heart of NLP is modelling excellent behaviour. By studying the structure of how people perform well, it can be enhanced and taught to others. The beauty of NLP is its limitless nature. It can be applied in a variety of fields from your personal through to your professional life. NLP allows you to apply your skills straight away, but continuous practice is required to enhance your communication skills further.
             This essay will discuss how NLP has helped me to enhance my pre-existing communication skills, and how it's taught me to apply them effectively in my personal and professional life. I will display my understanding of NLP and illustrate through examples how I have used these skills in my day to day life during the 5-day course and the weeks following it.
             NLP is about achieving excellence through processes that lead to success. By modelling the process of excellent behaviour, success naturally follows. The foundation of NLP rests upon the following steps:
             1) Know your outcome – knowing what you want, what you wish to achieve.
             2) Take action – taking steps towards achieving your goal.
             3) Develop awareness – observing the result of your actions.
             4) Be flexible – changing your behaviour until you get the result you want.
