Sexism
Sexism is a term used for treating people differently because of the gender in which they were born. It is used when a person is biased towards one sex over the other. For example saying that men are supposed to go out and work while the women stay at home and clean, cook and look after the children. This is a very sexist term as women can equally work as much as a man. The world has changed so much within the past century that maybe the term I have just written would have been true a hundred years ago but now within a fast developing world a woman is entitled to an office job just as much as a man is. With technology advancing and cloning taking its place, it is really scary as soon the cloning of humans will be happening whereby people will be able to choose the sex of clones produced. At the moment nobody has any control over what gender we are going to be before we are born even though you can know what the gender of the new born is going to be. Knowing you are unable to choose the gender of a new-born is good otherwise it will make this world a more sexist place than it already is. At the beginning of this century, women had no rights. Men made all decisions and they were the leaders of everything. Having a female president . . .
The National Organization for Men Against Sexism is the oldest pro-feminist men's group in the United States. Until the twentieth century, women had no voting rights, limited rights to property, and were, in most respects, subject entirely to their fathers or husbands. People in the Taliban regime have in mind that: Western women only believe they are free. Veiling is a custom associated with Islam because of a passage that says: " Say to the believing women to wear their gaze and guard their modesty. The religions of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Confucianism, and Hinduism, which together cover much of Europe, the Americas, North Africa, the Middle East, India, and China, have all produced cultures based on a ruling by fathers. There are complex issues which I talked about and they all need careful treatment and it is likely that they will remain causes for international concerns for many years to come. Stay with dignity in your homes and do not display your finery as the pagans of old did" (33:32-33). Taliban Islamic fundamentalist society practice some gender segregation to various degrees, in public spaces such as mosques and the market place. Mohammed the prophet’s wife Aisha also played a unique role in the community, as an acknowledge authority on history, medicine, poetry an rhetoric, as well as one of the most important transmitters of Hadith (The prophet’s sayings). Unmarried men do not mix with unmarried women. Also Taliban was known with practising seclusion which differs from the public segregation of the sexes. Change has happened more slowly in Eastern cultures, where practices such as purdah (the confinement of women to the home), female circumcision, the killing of female children, and the husband's privileged right to divorce are still found. These women do not see how their culture exploits them when they choose to spend countless hours on the appearance, wear uncomfortable skin-tight clothes and dangerous high-heeled shoes, and allow themselves to be displayed as sexual objectives to sell cars and shaving cream, and beer. " (24:31) In Islam, the holly Quran declares that men and women are equal in the eyes of God.
