This article was very informative of letting me know some of the treatments for SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder has to do with body temperature, blood levels of melatonin, and the sleep-wake cycle. This is one of my favorite articles I have ever read. They found that with administration of light changed the mood of the patients. When one falls asleep the body temperature drops. Melatonin used as a treatment for SAD should be used with caution. Then, as the sun once again begins to rise above the horizen, melatonin release is once again slowed, body temperature rises, and the movement toward awakefullness begins. Melatonin possibly be taken as a sleeping pill. Someone with SAD should not be sleepy in the daytime. I feel everyone has suffered from some form of SAD. Some tips for avoiding SAD are to stay active and expose yourself to as much light as possible. ght plays an important role in Seasonal Affective Disorder. I like the subject of article.
