Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust Adolf Hitler was one of the cruelest rulers this world has ever known. During his reign Hitler caused enormous suffering for the Jews throughout Germany. Many Jewish families were torn apart by the cruelty of the Nazi party. This, one of the most tragic events in the world's history, is known as the Holocaust. During his quest for power, Hitler carried out his anti-sematic beliefs, which had a devatating effect on the Jewish community, and eventually led to the Holocaust. In the beginning Hitler saw the Jews as he saw everyone else. After contact with them, and extensive research, he began to view them not as Germans, but as their own inferior race. As Hitler wrote his book, Mein Kampf, his criticisms toward Jews grew stronger and stronger with each paragraph (Rice 20). Unfortunately, according to Hitler, the Jews were not the only inferior race. Hitler believed Communists, Gypsies, and Polish people were all weak links, and he told himself that one day he would rid Germany of all inferior races. Hitler was raised a Christian. There were also two more death camps established, one in Auschwitz, and one at Majdanek. Elisabeth was sent to a concentration camp in September of 1943, after being arrested by the German police. He was wrong and was put in prison by Russian soldiers. A similar story is that of Elisabeth De Jong. They could sign up to be used for experiments, or sent directly to the gas chambers. In March of 1942, Auschwitz was converted to a extermination camp, and Majdanek was converted in October 1942. On November 4, 1943, Hitler ordered the killing of all Jews which remained in the "General Government", and it was to begin at dawn the next morning. One year later they were sent to a village called Villanova d' Asti. Nazi storm troopers, members of the SS, and Hitler Youth beat and murdered Jews, broke into and destroyed Jewish homes, and assaulted Jewish women and children. The second day they injected formaldehyde, an unknown product at the time, into her ovary. Next, they were told to remove their clothing and to go to their designated room for a shower. (Hitler Historical Museum 5) Later that same month, the government required all Jews over the age of fifteen to get an identity card, which was required to be shown at the request of any police officer (U. Eichmann prepared a report that was to be sent to Heinrich Himmler to inform him of the number of Jewish deaths.
