Our Education System Needs To Be ImprovedEducation plays an important role in our society, which is the key of success for our future. This is why everybody has the obligation to go to school. Therefore, education system shall be considerate seriously. In “What Our Education System Needs is More F’s”, Carl Singleton suggests that our education system need to be improved by failing students. He states that teachers have tendency to pass unfaithfully students for more than 20 years, which means that teachers pass students who don’t deserve to pass. The reason is that teachers don’t want to feel guilty by failing them, so they quite change their grading standard. Another reason to increase the number of grade F is to eliminate illiterate graduate students from high school. Therefore, students who deserve to go to college will be able to read and write well. He also mentioned that the grade F would pull the parents’ attention to their children’s education, and makes the school boards and principals aware of the degradation of the education system . . .
To improve our education system, I suggest that school should spend more money to train teachers to get better teaching skills because generations to generations are different. However, it is unacceptable to fail students without any limits. Carl singleton point out that our education system needs to fail a lot of students, which would improve the quality of our education system. For instance, failing students could make them feel hopeless and frustrated. Similarly, getting parents more involved to their children’s education would raise the performance of their school achievement. So it may cause the students to give up attendances or pursue of their education. Finally, singleton states, “As every teacher knows, a failed student can be the product of failed teachers. ” (Writing From Sources, Spatt, 135) From this quote, the author wants to emphasize that the education system is getting worse because the teacher are not competent to teach. Without Fs nobody would knows that the systems is in troubles. I agree with the author that our education system needs to be improved because its value is becoming worse. Moreover, emotionally, grade of F put more pressure for their school works, which means that it would discourage them to accomplish their goals. In brief, according to Singleton’s text, I agree with the author that our education system needs to be ameliorated. Then, we don’t need to get to the point to fail a lot of students. After all, if the quality of education system improves, the illiterate graduate students would decrease. In order to improve the education system, we have to find the origin of the problem and not simply giving more Fs to students.
