Conflict Theory

             The economic structure of a society determines all other structures in the society. While the other structures may have an impact on one or more of the other structures, the economic structure is the only one that affects all of them. Capitalism leads to Protestantism, and slavery leads to a version of Catholic/Protestantism. Capitalism gives us free mate selection while slavery sharply controls it.
             Economic structures always include ownership of the means of production. Without any ownership there would not be an economic structure. The three factors of production are land, labor, and capital. The means of production is the most important factor in the specific system. During slavery, the means of production is labor. During subsistence agriculture, it is the land. And during the industrial era, it is capital.
             Ownership creates two classes in the society: owners of the means of production, and non-owners. Obviously, not everyone can own the means of production. If everyone were an owner, the society would not function. Non-owners have to work for the owners until they become owners. When a factory is started in a town, it automatically creates two classes: the owners of the factory and all the workers. The workers will probably never become owners because the owners make the workers think of other things to strive for.
             Each class has its own interests. Interests are the most fundamental things that they are concerned with in life. Owners want to continue owning. Owners want to put other owners into the non-owner class by buying owners. Non-owners want to become owners. They do not want higher wages. Owners are mostly interested in staying owners. Owners will even kill others to stay owners. During a strike at a factory in Illinois, snipers were called in to shoot the workers who would not let others into the factory.
