The Battle of Gettysburg, one of the most noted battles of the Civil War, was fought on July 1-3, 1863. Those who do not contribute to the common good are considered useless. He discussed that freedom can be limited by legal regulations that prohibits people from doing illegal activities. The second part of Pericles’ speech focuses on how democratic institutions serve the common goods that lead citizens to choose to serve the good of Athens. They follow this regulations in order to be the ideal Athenian citizen.
