Robert Frost’s Terrifying Universe

Robert Frost wrote many poems that gathered interest in readers’ eyes and minds. Many of the poems made his universe seem almost terrifying. Robert Frost’s universe is a show of how terrifying real life is.

Death is one part of the terrifying universe that Frost shows everyone. The death in his poetry demonstrates a realism in life, something that can’t be prevented and something that can’t be changed. “Home Burial” is a poem about the death of a son. The mother grieves deeply over such pain that she has to leave the house to talk to others, due to her husband not truly being there for her. The father tries to convince her that he is there for her, but he has an almost non-caring attitude towards the death of his child, almost forced if anything. That kind of attitude shows how the death of a child can affect the minds of parents and sometimes others. The mother seems upset about the fact that the father dug the hole for the son with a non-grieving look to his face. A cited passage from the poem will demonstrate the biggest problem between the two.

You make me angry. I’ll come down to you / God, what a woman! And it’s come to this, / A man can’t speak of his own child that’s dead.

. . .
Don’t let him, sister!” (786)Course later when the doctor comes, the doctor uses ether on him, and later after that the boy dies. One cannot, and Frost has ensured this absolutely with his unstable irony, make a validated choice between the fire and the ice, or between the language, so insistently mundane, and the potent oversound. Course in Fire and Ice, fear takes a whole new meaning. Fire and ice are born in the dark reaches of inner space, in the smoldering, ice-sheathed human heart. He later states that the “people” are all inhabitants of this terrifying universe. This is a sad moment, and for the kid to go into so much pain, may also have caused the death, or a great loss of blood.

Robert Frost is an all-around poet. He seems not to have noticed the view from the window, but his tender description of the gravestones and the child's mound—not yet marked with a stone—show that he is not unfeeling but that such family deaths have become an everyday part of his life. It makes some of the poems a mix between interesting and terrifying. we toil and work, and even when a loved one dies, we return to our work, hardly ever looking up at the sunset and mountain ranges of vermont.

There are a lot of feelings between different poets on their work, but Frost gives a reality even if it is terrifying to his work. Her desire for air and her explanation that perhaps his reaction is just masculine show that her criticism may not be strictly personal. (788)

Jeffrey Meyer says that the title represents “passion and hatred, two ways of destroying the world. ” It is hard to decribe most pain without the appearance death into it.
