Money

             In our day and age, we cannot live without money. People need money to purchase material items, food to survive, and even entertainment. One can argue that money is what makes this world go around. Although money can seem to make one happy, there are also very negative consequences when one develops a love for money, and the love for it can cause great damage. I agree with the quote in the First Epistle of Paul to Timothy, "The love of money is the root of all evil, "because love of money creates greed, murder, and even wars among mankind.
             First of all, money can cause greed among people. Greed causes people not to care about each other, but only wanting to accumulate more and more. The greed for money causes people to take from one another without compassion. When people vote to cut welfare and other programs that help the poor, they are trying to save money on taxes. They do not think of the people they are hurting, only about paying less. Love of money can empty one's heart and fill it with greed and selfishness which destroys a person's good qualities.
             Second, love of money can lead to murder. People who have empty hearts because of greed will steal from each other and even kill if necessary. Every day on the news there is a story about a robbery where someone was killed in the process. More people than ever before are killed in car highjackings and home invasions. Hundreds of gang killings happen every year because of gangs competing for drug money. Many of the violent crimes reported are the direct result of love of money and the lengths a person will go to get it, or take it from someone else.
             Third, love of money can cause wars between nations of people. Throughout our world's history, money has been a key cause in fighting among people. In our country people were killed off or made slaves because of money. The love for gold caused great anguish and hatred among those who wanted to acquire it in the United States. Wars
