The Fab Four

Why were they the most influential four persons on Earth in 1967? Why do Classical musicians and conductors compare them to Beethoven and Mozart? Why did they net $300 million last year--more than Michael Jackson who owns most of their songs--twenty-seven years after they last recorded? Why are Lennon/McCartney the most successful song team of this century? Why have they sold over a billion discs and tapes? The Beatles revolutionized the music industry and transformed rock music into what it is today. They became role models for an entire generation and left behind a legacy that should be carried in today's modern society. That is why our school should carry the name of "Fab Four High". To this day, the Beatles are one of the most famous and popular rock groups in the world. The Beatles include George Harrison (1943-2001), John Lennon (1940-1980), Paul McCartney, and Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr). They were born and raised in Liverpool, England. The Beatles were discovered on November 9th, 1961 by Brian Epstein, a manager of a record store in Liverpool, as well as an ex-British Army soldier. Their early music was

Precisely how, when, and where "Beatlemania" got started nobody, not even their late manager Brian Epstein could say for sure. The movie A Hard Days Night earned 1. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), perhaps the first rock album designed thematically as a single musical entity, is more generally considered their triumph. By the end of 1963 they were the biggest music group in England. They became the target of such adoration by their fans that they had to cancel all one-night bookings because of riots in early 1964. Experimenting with new musical forms, they produced an extraordinary variety of songs: the childishly simple "Yellow Submarine"; the bitter social commentary of "Eleanor Rigby"; parodies of earlier pop styles; new electronic sounds; and compositions that were scored for cellos, violins, trumpets, and sitars, as well as for conventional guitars and drums. In 1967 the Beatles directed a movie, Magical Mystery Tour. influenced by singers such as Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley. The Beatles came to New York City for the first time February 8th, 1964 for three appearances with Ed Sullivan. They left behind a legacy that all young Americans should be aware of. Obviously, it had an enormous effect on America.
