Kurt Cobain
I agree with the writer of this article, Mr. David Samuels, that Kurt Cobain was the “greatest rock star of the ‘90’s”. When it comes to the statements that Kurt was in terrible marriage and was unhappy with then wife, Courtney Love, that is just speculation. My major disagreement with the media, fans and critics alike, was that he hated the record industry and the fame. I feel that he acted as though he was against fame and success, but deep down he enjoyed the fame, money and recognition. The author of this article hit many good points on how big of an influence Kurt was for generation X-ers. His songs did have meaning and substance through all the yelling and screaming. Kids related to what he sang about. Kurt’s music and lyrics . . .
Or there was actual documentation of it. This article was interesting and entertaining. I don’t however feel his marriage had a great deal with it. I could understand if there was an interview with Kurt on the reason he made this song. It just happened to be the last song recorded before his death. I think his wife actually kept him hanging on as long as he did. In the end though, she just wasn’t enough. This was the first celebrity death that actually affected me. The author states that the lyrics of the newly released song refers to his wife in a negative way. He could have been referring to his first love, a teacher back in grade school, his mother. were so ahead of its time that the newest song released a month ago sounds like a song made for the 21st century, not early ‘90’s.
