Xbox/Ps2/Gamecube Comparison

I remember the days when the name “Nintendo” was synonymous with “video game.” Everyone who played video games knew of Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers. That old eight-bit system reigned undisputed during most of my childhood. Nowadays there are so many selections. Video games can be played on portable handheld systems like the Nintendo’s Gameboy Advance, on personal computers (PC for short), while most are still played on personal game consoles. However, today Nintendo does not hold the monopoly in the video game industry. Currently, Sony’s Playstation 2 is leading the pack in sales, with Microsoft’s Xbox following second, and last is Nintendo’s GameCube. With so many options how does one go about picking out the right system?

The comparison of Xbox vs. Playstation 2 vs. GameCube is ultimately a personal one. Many people say that the Xbox is just a graphically souped-up PC in a square box, and technically this is not completely wrong. Others say that Nintendo's GameCube, like previous video game consoles from Nintendo, is still targeted mostly at pre-teens and does not have many games for more mature players. Fact is, there are games for more mature players, and Nintendo tries to get a piece of the more mature gamer

. . .

So far the PS2 is still leading in sales per unit; however the Xbox is enjoying the biggest growth. Xbox is Microsoft's first attempt at the console hardware market. They eventually failed due to lack of quality software developers willing to work with them. My predictions are that by next Christmas the battle will be between the PS2 and Xbox. It is what games out there can actually take advantage of the systems full capability. The PS2 is still a great buy simply because of all the games that are available, for all audiences. The XBox however is also gearing up to be a system with a great abundance of games for all audiences. This market has been historically captured with Sony's original Playstation and is now very much the main target in the battle of Xbox vs.

Technically the Xbox has the most advance technologies.

In my opinion, as part of the older audience I would pick the Xbox over the other systems. PS2’s ability to play PS1’s games, and DVD movies immediately made it an attractive buy. This allows for less loading time so you can play your games faster.

Sony has established itself as a leader in the industry for almost a decade now since its introduction of the Playstation.
