Mental Retardation

There are many children in the world that attend schools that have some type of developmental disability. As being a special education teacher I will have the privilege to teach those children in need of help. That help could be in areas such as reading, writing, and the ability to comprehend. Those are the necessities that are needed to teach special needed children. In this research paper I have researched two very common disorders that effects school children in today's schools. Mental Retardation and Cerebral Palsy. Mental Retardation is common in the United States, and mostly in schools children. I have worked with children who were Mentally Retarded and at the same time had Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy is also another common disorder that affects school children in the classrooms. What are developmental disabilities? Developmental disabilities are a diverse group of severe chronic conditions that are due to mental and/or physical impairments. People with developmental disabilities have problems with major life activities such as language, mobility, learning, self-help, and independent living. Developmental disabilities begin anytime during development up to 22 years of age and usually last throughout a person's lif

Spastic diplegia is still sometimes called Little's Disease. Still other causes of mental retardation do not happen until a child is older. But because all children with cerebral palsy have movement problems, you can expect that an important component of your child's treatment will be a therapeutic exercise program. In general, it is considered very early intervention if a baby begins therapy before six months of age. The presence of a risk factor does not mean cerebral palsy will occur, nor does the absence of a risk factor mean that cerebral palsy will not occur. Sir William Osler, a British medical doctor, is believed to have coined the term. Some babies, however, have too much jaundice. In the United States today, more people have cerebral palsy than any other developmental disability, including Down Syndrome, Mental Retardation Epilepsy, and Autism. Sigmund Freud, the Austrian neurologist better known for his work in psychiatry, published some of the earliest medical papers on cerebral palsy. The steps are as follows, Physical (walking and movements of muscles. They did not show signs of improvement with age, nor did they become any worse. There a few different steps that could help a child in need. What is cerebral palsy? Cerebral palsy refers to a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and to maintain balance and posture. Other causes that take place before a child is born include genetic conditions or birth defects that affect the brain.
