             Reverse Discrimination: Fair or Unjust?
             With so many laws in our society today protecting groups or individuals from discrimination, it may prove to be an advantage for those who are discriminated, but what about those who are not? Because of these laws, many people who are not discriminated, who used to be shown equal treatment, are not receiving the same equal treatment they used to. More equality is being shown to those who are discriminated, this is known as reverse discrimination. This is clearly unfair to those who are not discriminated. Just because they are not the ones who are not discriminated does not mean they do not deserve equal treatment as well.
             Discrimination, "...the unequal treatment of a group or individual based on their ethnicity, sex, religion, age, or disability...", is a term that most people are familiar with. It has been most commonly used throughout the mid-1900's during the Civil Rights Movement when black Americans struggled to gain full citizenship rights and racial equality. In society today, our government has laws to protect groups and or individuals from discrimination. Some of these laws are "the Civil Rights Act of 1954, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Housing Act". So much pressure has been placed on schools, businesses, and companies to abide by these new laws that they do not want to turn away a group or individual who has been previously discriminated. They do not do this because of fear of being accused they do not offer equal opportunity to those who are discriminated, thus, the result is reverse discrimination. Reverse discrimination is when a school, business, and or company gives equal treatment to those who had once been discriminated. This action does not prove to be fair or equal treatment to those who are not discriminated.
