Race and Ethnicity
Black, Asian, Caucasian, there are many races on this planet that we live in, and confuse race with ethnicity. Race is a group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution, or in other words a general description. Ethnicity is an ethnic quality or affiliation resulting from racial or cultural ties, or more exactly, what country or countries you and your ancestors originate from. My race is Caucasian, and my ethnicity is Polish. The Polish people have greatly contributed a variety of delicious cuisines to the world as well as a very well known history.Race is a usually what general area a person originates from. Blacks are from Africa, Caucasians are from Europe, Arabs are from the Middle East, Asians are from Asia, and so on and so on. In this day and age most people are not one race but multiple races. A person can be broken down into one specific race but it does not speak for what and who they really are. They are a lot more than just their skin color
Ethnicity is the breakdown of a person. No one should refer to themselves as a "mutt," I hear this all the time, just because their heritage leads to many different countries, does not mean that the person should call themselves that. There is so much history that can be lead back all the way back to the beginning of the development of Poland. I have always been proud and will continue to be until the day that I die. Many people have different types of blood inside of them. Your ethnicity is your background, your identity, something that should always be carried with you inside your brain. Concentration Camps were everywhere, death was delivered to not just Poles who were Jewish, but ones that were not as well. This gave me pride knowing that the beginning of my heritage was filled with great meaning. It can be cooked on camp fires, or just eaten raw with some Polish rye bread. Poland just became a democratic nation not too long ago. It is where his/hers ancestors directly originate from, country and countries. The Polish people went through very rough times during World War II. Never confuse race and ethnicity, they are two completely different things, one is a general, and more broad description which goes just by your appearance, the other is the deep roots of who you truly are. This is not rare to find in the melting pot of the United States of America. Even our pope today, John Paul II, is Polish.
