Through the past two decades in American history music has led the way in its influence of pop culture. The major types that have paved the way for other forms of music have been Rap or Hip-Hop, Rock, as well as Pop. These three have certainly left their mark on today's culture, spawning television shows, magazines, and even whole networks. Music's staple left in the side of America cannot be ignored, and will be forever felt in society. Each of the three major types of music leaves its stamp on today's society in a different way. All have their own following and all have their own style. One of the biggest forms of music out there is the Rap or Hip-Hop genre of music. Since the early eighties hip-hop has be on the move as far as pushing the envelope of censorship. From the freedom rap of the early eighties to the "gangsta" rap of the early to mid-nineties hip-hop has definitely caught the ears of a younger generation of rebels. But like other artist they much get some respect for doing what they do and loving it. They just want to be able to perform in front of their fans, whether they are dirt poor or filthy rich. Could this be the end of Pop? No, though the data shows that Pop music has been on a definite decline, pop stars will always weasel their way through the charts with little hit singles here and there. No matter who is on top, whether it is the rockers, the rappers, or the pop stars, they are all great artists who just want to bring their craft in to the world. In the next couple of years we may see a sudden change in the music world, a new genre may come and blow the others out of the water. Hip-Hop has definitely become a force to be reckoned in today's music scene, and will be for many generations to come. Pop music has been around just as long as the previous Rock and Rap genres, but within the past couple of years pop music is on the decline. Musicians are constantly setting the standard for today's style, attitude, and vigor. Back in nineteen-ninety eight Britney Spears was introduced to the public. Music's many genres are enough to blow your mind. Nevertheless a few years later in 2000-2001 Britney and other pop stars slowly felt the cold breathe of Rock and Rap breathing down their necks.
