Family Heritage Report
The Family must have many things to survive and keep the family strong. The basic functions of the family are procreation, socialization, economic support, protection, housing, and clothing. After analyzing my family history, several trends have become apparent to the era they were in. My family starts off back in England 7 generations ago. My family traditions have not changed all that much as time has past. They however have changed to adapt to societies new way of living as they change. So to see any major changes that took place in my family I had to go back 7 generations. My family was started with Ann Ivison who was born on January 30, 1797 in Manchester, England. Her father was clockmaker and very wealthy. In a distant part of the Ivison family there was said to be some title, but it is not known what the title was, or exactly who had it. So there is also some English royalty in family at one point in time. She attended a girl's seminary, which was the custom in those days, which is equivalent to a 8th grade level of education today. She was only 4 feet, 10 inches in height. In 1826, at 29, and considered an old maid, she came to America with her dower money to look for a husband. She
It would take them one week to get ready. Robert then got a job working for Xerox where he has been moving up in the company for the past 25 years. A few years later Allan became very sick and died 10 years after being married. There was a "squatter", named Burrus (or Burch), who cleared this land and built the first log cabin on the place. She too wanted to get out of Illinois. She considered herself an English Aristocrat. The trains stopped at the water tower for water for the engines, as this was the only stream for miles that never went dry. Nellie had 3 sons with her first husband Naaman who she was married to for 20 years before they got a divorce. While working for Xerox Robert met his wife Judy in a church group for single adults. This still did not stop Nellie more from seeking another relation ship. So Ann after hearing about the land for sale went by stagecoach alone all of the way back to Philadelphia after her dower money, which she had brought from England. This generation was the first to see the influence of having a car in their life as well. She worked as a purchasing agent for some big manufacturing company until she was 7 months pregnant with me.
