Comparing and Contrasting Picasso and Escher
All modern artists are the same, right? Wrong. The two artists I will be discussing, Pablo Picasso and M.C. Escher, though they have some similarities, are also very different. Though they are from the same general era, the tone of their artwork, their drawing styles, and some of the types of media they used. Both artists have similarities, though their differences are more numerous. Both artists are from the modern art period, meaning their art was done in the last century or so. Their art is also abstract, at least in the very general sense of the word. Escher often prefers straight lines to curves in his works, but in every occasional curve there is the feeling of calculation in them that is not present in Picasso's free, wild arks and loops. Escher's similarities, the tones of their artwork, the general style of appearance of the works they create, and their preferred media. Escher's art style, in contrast, is almost a total opposite. The last thing I would like to discuss is the types of media. Some, however, don't so much seem balanced, more like. Though their styles are both generally abstract, there are many aspects of their styles that are not the same. Also another observation is that Picasso's art tends to have a lot more curves to it. rightfully unbalanced, if you catch my meaning. He tends to draw with almost impeccable realism, and every line is smooth, neat, and precise. Picasso's style, for instance, is very imprecise. Escher seemed to prefer pen and ink, which is what a large percentage of his works are done in - however I have seen the occasional water color from him as well, with tiny dabs of acrylic added into the mix for effect. Piccasso is well known for his paintings, which he did using a variety of paint types.
