Technology and education

Living in a society where technology is virtually unavoidable, it is inevitable that tasks that have been done in the past will need to be altered in order to accommodate the fast-paced, technologically enhanced world that we live in. Our every day tasks have changed in one way or another due to technological advancements, and are quickly becoming the norm. The types of medium that we use to communicate with one another have been evolving throughout the past years: the use of a telephone is being replaced by teleconferencing, the transferring of information can be done faster through the Internet or local networks, and emails have taken the place of letters and memos. There are many examples of every day activities in which technology has made its mark, and it seems to be doing so incessantly. The world of technology is swelling right before our eyes, and will continuously do so for many years to come. There is a growing need to educate ourselves and others about technology so that we become familiar with it and not feel intimidated by this growing phenomenon - and the best way to do that is through our education system. There are 3 main tiers in our education system: primary, secondary and post-secondary levels. Currently, the

As well, technicians who are familiar with the hardware of the systems will be in higher demand to ensure that the systems do not encounter any problems. This knowledge will prove beneficial in the future when they enter the workforce and can truthfully boast their knowledge of certain operating systems and programs. Offering the option of distance education can be more appealing to an individual in this educational level because of the flexibility of the courses and the ability to work at their own pace, at their own time. Nevertheless, technology is growing around us and it is becoming harder and harder to avoid it. This type of educational learning will prove to be beneficial since many jobs in the workforce today require a vast understanding of technology, and the more an individual is exposed to technology, the more competent they will become in dealing with problems. New software and programs could be introduced to the students through the years to increase their knowledge of technology, while other courses could use technology to enhance learning. Therefore, using online tutorials or CDs will not particularly hurt an individual's learning experience. Jobs will not be lost, but created, since educators will still be needed on hand for moral support and for facilitating the learning process. Bringing technology into the classroom will enhance a child's ability to interact with a computer system and minimize the fear many of us have acquired toward technology. By exposing students to technology and its different benefits and flaws, we are increasing their chances of obtaining a successful job - whether it be in the technology field or science. school systems are attempting to incorporate a small dose of technology into their classrooms while maintaining the traditional classroom environment. This would then allow the individual to gain independence and various useful skills that will help them in the future. Students would become familiar with various operating systems, as well as useful tools/software such as MS Office, while gaining knowledge in other subjects as well.
