War with Iraq
War with Iraq is inevitable. It will, and, should happen because in the past thirteen years there have been many resolutions by the UN Security Council to stop the terror, wars, and human rights violations committed by Iraq. These resolutions are documents developed and written by the United Nations members with the hope that there can be a peaceful resolution to a dispute or war between different countries of the world. The latest of these Resolutions, 1441, was adopted by the UN Security Council on November 8, 2002 (internet 1), with the hope, once again, of stopping Saddam Hussein, and of gaining control of any weapons of mass destruction that may be in the possession of Iraq. Why, after almost 13 years of resolutions, would the UN Security Council believe another resolution will work? Even today, there are some in the United Nations, who should be some of the best educated and most knowledgeable of each nation, that still think the leopard will change its spots; I would like to be able to see through their eyes. Those who do not want war because they truly believe that Saddam will change is one thing, but, there are those who do not want war because they have an economic interest in Iraq. One such coun
Resolution 687 demands that Kuwait and Iraq cease hostilities and respect international boundaries (internet 8). On November 29, 1990 Resolution 678 was passed (internet 6). UN Security Council Resolution 686 - 1991 2/11/03. Part of the new resolution involved Saddam giving the United Nations Inspectors a list of all weapons of mass destruction and what was done with them and where they are. Once again the UN Security Council decides to pass another resolution which is Resolution 687, adopted April 3, 1991 (internet 8), and was passed again stating that Iraq needed to comply with previous resolutions and also noting Iraq's use of "ballistic missiles in unprovoked attacks" (internet 8, paragraph 15). Since most resolutions, other than sanctions, are for the most part, contracts between different parties, why would Russia or any other country believe that Saddam would honor their contracts. htm Internet 4Unknown. The most important thing to look at here is that it took a total of 4 days from the passage of the first resolution, the violation of it and the passage of the first sanction against Iraq. As every one knows, to this point in time this resolution has also been ignored. The first resolution to control Iraqi behavior, Resolution 660, was passed on August 2, 1990 (internet 4); this document condemned the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, and demanded the withdrawal of Iraq from Kuwait.
